| Abstract & Background | Abstract Trustworthy network is a new direction of Internet research. This paper analyses current challenge on trustworthy network and points out that virtualization is one of the most efficient way to carry out the research. The authors overview the network virtualization technology and its application in trustworthy network research. Because current network virtualization technology has some shortages for trustworthy network, such as resource management, the authors propose a new virtual network element model¡ªVBN(Virtual Big Node). In this model, multiple network nodes can be aggregated to one VBN, and many virtual mechanisms are applied on it. VBN can decrease network complexity efficiently and enhance survivability and controllability of network transport service as well. Keywords trustworthy networks; virtualization; resource management Background This research is partly supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) under grant No.2003CB314802. Trustworthy network is one of the new directions in next generation internet research field. The main problem in this area is how to provide trustworthy network service under IP connect less mechanism and end to end argument. This paper points out that virtualization is the effect tool to solve the problem. Virtualization is the emerging technology in internet research area. It separates control and management from underlying forwarding and switching functions by abstracting the details of the physical implementation. Virtualization enlarges the space for mechanism design of trustworthy network. This paper makes a deep analyze in virtualization and propose a novel VBN (Virtual Big Node) model. In this model, multiple network nodes can be aggregated to one VBN, and many virtual mechanisms are applied on it. VBN can decrease network complexity efficiently and enhance survivability and controllability of network transport service as well. |
