| Abstract & Background | Abstract In this article, the proposed background, the present studying state and its developing direction of granular computing are summarized. Author¡¯s view are also inserted in the article. The applied universality of granular computing is discussed, including the applications of image searching technology in AI, diagnosis and treatemnt systems in medicine, calculus in seriate mathematics and other approximate reasoning. Granular computing could hopefully be the theoretical tool and methodology on information processing and studying other subject. Granulations and related properties based on the semantics of Rough logic are also discussed. Deductive reasoning of the granulations is created. Resolution principles and resolution strategies of granulations based on the semantics of Rough logic are proposed, it includes ¦Ë-resolution strategy and lock resolution strategy. The soundness of the granular resolution is proved. Application of granulations based on the semantics of Rough logic in problem resolving, expert systems and machine theorem proving of AI could hopefully be a new research idea and new theoretical tools. Finally, further developing perspectives of granulations based on the semantics of Rough logic are also proposed in this article. keywords granular computing; semantics of Rough logic; resolution principles and strategies of the granulations; problem solving; ¦Ë-resolution and lock resolution strategies Background This project of studying is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (60173054,50539020), Natural Science Foundation (2007GZS1056) in Jiangxi province. Titles of the projects are "Research of Resolution Principles and Strategies of Rough Logic"(60173054) and "The Research of Computing in Normal Linear Space and Solving Approximate Solution"(2007GZS1056) respectively. In the projects, the authors mainly study Rough logic and granular computing based on the semantics of Rough logic, and its approximate reasoning. The research group had published near 80 papers on the research direction. Once first author got the Best Contribution Award by International Rough Set Society in 2003. Granular computing is proposed in recent years, and its development is quicker. China is one of the countries of studying granular computing in the world early. Currently, the researchers on granular computing in China are more than other countries. The granulations based on the semantics of Rough logic are also studied except for presentation the research present state of granular computing in this paper. Resolution reasoning of the granulations based on semantics of Rough logic will offer a new idea for studying classical logic and other nonstandard logic. So, this research is the approximate reasoning parts of current research project. |
