  Background
Abstract On base of analysis of watermarking attacks on digital images, the paper presents a digital image copyright protection protocol based on digital watermarking technology. The protocol not only meets the base requests of digital copyright protection, but also has the ability to against the watermarking protocol attacks and to assure the fairness between image service provider and costumers by introducing certificate authority and copyright central. The image status that the image contain legal watermarking or falsify watermarking and the status transitions are analyzed. For the more, protocol security analysis tool, murphi, is applied to analyze the protocol security, and the analysis outputs indicate that the protocol is secure.

background In digital society, digital media than paper media are easily copied, modified and distributing, so digital copyright are easily suffered. If the digital copyright can be protected very well, the digital media creator or possessor¡¯s interests will be encroached on, and that will blow they creating and publishing enthusiasm. Digital copyright protection has direct bearing upon information society development.
Encryption and watermarking are the main technology to protect digital media copyright. Digital watermarking algorithm has been focused on, and a series of algorithms for a variety of digital media are presented. For the research about digital watermarking, the algorithm of one side and the protocol to apply watermarking of the other balance each other out. A good protocol to apply digital watermarking in digital copyright protection will make digital watermarking better service the digital copyright protection.
The paper studies on protocol security of digital copyright protection framework. The problems have been researched widely and many papers discussed the digital watermarking protocol attacks, but these papers resolve protocol attacks from watermarking content or signature etc. The paper resolves the problem combining the digital copyright protection framework. Through importing certificate authority and copyright central, the ability to against the watermarking protocol attacks and to assure the fairness between image service provider and costumers are improved.
